Chemical Laboratory
INTERGEO ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGY AND SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT LTD. was founded in Thessaloniki in 1991 as a subsidiary of INTERGEO SALZBURG, aiming to provide the same services as the parent company and the transfer of knowledge and scientific experience in Greece in the fields of environmental studies and technical geology.
The company’s scientific staff consists of geologists, hydrogeologists, environmentalists, chemists, chemical engineers and environmental engineers.
At the same time INTERGEO implements consultanting projects in geotechnical works as part of major technical projects, as well as various hydrogeological studies for the benefit of public and private entities.
INTERGEO in Greece has been working on a large number of projects across the country, as well as in neighboring countries such as Cyprus, Turkey, Bulgaria, Serbia and Albania.
INTERGEO Ltd. has been certified according to EN ISO 9001, 14001, OHSAS 18001 for the quality of the services provided. The main activity of the company is the rehabilitation of contaminated soils and waters, as well as the prevention and restriction of pollution, mainly from companies dealing with the processing and distribution of petroleum products.
INTERGEO utilising a network of specialized and accredited with EN ISO 17025 chemical laboratories of the GROUP, the extensive experience and technical equipment in hand, together with the quality and environmental certifications, provides a wide range of environmental measurements and chemical analyses.
In 2008, the company expanded its activities with the establishment of a modern analytical laboratory to serve the needs of its customers.
Our continued commitment to the evolution and advancement of Science and our goal to become a Laboratory with official international recognition of scientific competence and integrity has led us to the accreditation of our lab.
Our Laboratories have been accredited since 2010 by the National Accreditation System according to ELOT EN ISO / IEC 17025, Certificate Number 714-2. by the National Accreditation System (ESYD). In order to better serve its customers, INTERGEO’s lab extends every year its accreditation range.
1. Fields of Provided Services
INTERGEO’s chemical lab objective, is to perform physical and chemical analyses of liquid and solid waste samples from biological purifications, contaminated soil, groundwater, surface water and drinking water.
The scientific staff of the Laboratory consists of geologists, hydrogeologists, chemists, chemical engineers and environmental engineers, who have the knowledge and expertise to carry out the aforementioned analyses.
It is equipped with state-of-the-art machinery to better serve its customers and provide reliable services.

3. Participation in interlaboratory testing
In order to ensure the quality of the analyses provided, each year the laboratory participates in comparative interlaboratory testing schemes pursuant to the requirements of standard ELOT EN ISO / IEC 17025.
These schemes include labs both from Greece, the General Laboratory of the State (SCHEMA) and abroad (FAPAS).
During the course of each year, quality control testing is also being performed.
4. Analytical equipment
INTERGEO’s lab is equiped with state of the art specialised equipment in order to provide all of its services.
The use of suitable analytical control equipment is an essential prerequisite for the success of analytical services. The control equipment is calibrated annually and maintained in accordance with the manufacturer’s requirements.
5. Ensuring the quality of the results
In order to monitor and ensure the validity of the results, an appropriate quality control system has been defined and is being followed according to the following procedures:
- calibration of the measuring equipment
- maintenance of the measuring equipment
- regular use of certified reference materials
- inter-laboratory checks
- estimation of measurement uncertainty
- evaluation of the application control methods
6. Collaboration with external laboratories
INTERGEO’s Laboratory collaborates with other ISO / IEC 17025 laboratories in Greece and abroad to provide a wide range of chemical analyses for various samples. In particular we provide our customers with a wide range of microbiological analyses, analyses for all pesticides, BTEX, MTBE, Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH), VOC, GC / MS Fingerprint, Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs), PCBs, Aldehydes, Flash Point, Loss of ignition, analyses such as XRF and XRD and all kinds of heavy metals. Finally it can perform asbestos analyses.
The analyses are performed on water (underground, surface), liquid waste, solid waste, soil samples, oils, tires, asbestos samples etc.
