INTERGEO Hellas wins the National Energy Globe Greece 2024 Award

On Thursday 23.01. 2025, the Commercial Counselor and Head of the Commercial Department of the Austrian Embassy-ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA, Mr. Christoph Sturm, awarded the National Energy Globe Greece 2024 Award for the project of waste management in the carbon neutral oil industry. The award was received by our General Manager Dr. Stylianos Papadopoulos.

Petroleum sludge (PS) is one of the most prevalent hazardous wastes in the oil industry, with serious health and environmental impacts. This new technological approach, through vacuum thermal absorption, allows the transformation of sludge into a non-hazardous residue while recovering valuable resources.

Implementation of this method can reduce CO2 emissions by 4,500 tonnes and recover 1,500 tonnes of fuel to be processed, paving the way for a sustainable, carbon-neutral waste management plan in the oil industry.

A huge thank you to econ industries for their expertise and innovation in sustainable waste management. Together, we are driving the industry towards a cleaner and greener future!

This Project is Supported by a grant from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA Financial Mechanism 2014-2021, in the frame of the Programme “Business Innovation Greece.

With more than 180 participating countries, the Energy Globe Awards is now the world’s most recognised environmental award.

The Energy Globe Awards is the inspiration and initiative of Austrian energy pioneer Wolfgang Neumann.
