Collection and Transport of Hazardous Waste

At Intergeo Hellas we are licensed since 2008 for the nationwide collection – transport of hazardous waste.

We transport all types of hazardous waste, provided that they do not originate from health care facilities, do not have explosive, contaminating or radioactive character and do not fall under Collective Alternative Waste Management Systems. (e.g. used mineral oils, batteries/accumulators, etc.).

Our company has a fully equipped fleet of vehicles and properly trained staff and cooperation with specialised partners, in order to pick up hazardous waste nationwide according to the needs of each customer.

The requirements of the ADR Agreement and the IMDG Code for the road and sea transport of dangerous goods, respectively, apply to all hazardous waste transports.

Recipients of Hazardous Waste

At Intergeo Hellas we have a fully developed network of partnerships with licensed recipients of hazardous waste both in Greece and abroad, in order to be able to provide integrated management services for all types of hazardous waste in accordance with the provisions of Greek and European legislation.

Storage of Packaged Hazardous Waste

We have a fully licensed hazardous waste storage facility within the Industrial Park of the Municipality of Thermi.

The facility stores packaged hazardous waste which is classified under the following European Waste Catalogue (EWC) codes.

The waste is then transported to hazardous waste disposal/recovery facilities in Greece or abroad.

Waste Sampling & Waste Characterization

At Intergeo Hellas we carry out waste sampling in order to obtain representative samples, which can then be used reliably for the classification of a waste as hazardous or non-hazardous, as well as for the determination of the hazardous properties of the waste.

Sampling shall be carried out after sampling plans have been drawn up which are tailored to the specificities of each case. For their implementation, internationally recognised standards are followed (ELOT EN 14899:2006, LAGA PN 98), according to which in Intergeo Hellas we are appropriately accredited or have appropriately trained personnel, as required for the certified implementation of the respective standard.

At the same time, our company has specialised equipment for sampling any type of waste, with the sole condition that it is included in the waste hazard categories which it is licensed to manage, (i.e. excluding waste that may have radioactive, explosive and contaminating properties).

After taking representative samples, the waste is evaluated for its hazardousness, following the provisions of the existing legislation (Directive 2008/98, CLP Regulation 1272/2008, Regulation 1357/2014, Regulation 997/2017, Technical Guidance for the Classification of Waste C124_2018) in order to determine whether the waste exhibits any of the 15 hazardous properties of the European Regulation 1357/2014. Subsequently, it is possible to classify the waste under a specific six-digit code of the European Waste Catalogue (EWC).

All the necessary physicochemical analyses take place either in its own laboratory accredited according to ELOT ISO/IEC 17025:2017, or in cooperation with accredited laboratories in Greece and abroad (Europe, USA).
